Maldives on Sunday, 15 March 2020 has confirmed the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases have increased to 13 with the most recent cases identified in a locally operated safari vessel.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives confirms two foreigners onboard a locally operated safari, anchored near Fuvahmulah, were tested positive for the virus.

President Office's Under Secretary and the main spokesperson on COVID-19 case developments, Mr Mabrouk Abdul Azeez confirmed the two foreigners were onboard a safari vessel identified as "Island Safari".

At the time of the reporting, the vessel was en-route to a safer harbor with critical care availability.

With this the current tally of confirmed cases increased from 11 to 13 which includes 5 cases from Kuredu Island Resort, 2 from Sandies Bathala, 2 from Kuramathi Island Resort, 2 from Anantara Dhigu and the most recent cases of two foreigners testing positive from the safari vessel.

HPA further reports all positive cases have been discovered from foreigners while no locals have tested positive for the virus so far.
