Authorities have quarantined a Maldivian individual who had flown in recently from China.
The local was quarantined due to the fast spreading viral pandemic; COVID-19 which originated from Wuhan, China.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives confirms the individual, upon arrival, was quarantined in adherence to the safety measures and conduct guidelines instructed from World Health Organization (WHO).
The Maldivian local arrived in Maldives on Wednesday, and authorities have now confirmed the individual will be quarantined in isolation for a 14-day to assess presence of the novel coronavirus.
Meanwhile two locals who flew in from Rome, Italy on Wednesday morning to Maldives have already been sequestered off to the isolated treatment and quarantine venue for a 14-day period.
The island nation has reported a total of 8 confirmed cases of COVID-19, all reported from tourist resorts in Maldives.
The tourist resorts in question include Kuredu Island Resort, Sandies Bathala Resort and more recently Kuramathi Island Resort.
While Kuredu has reported 04 confirmed cases, with the island on lockdown for an unprecedented period, the resort has been assigned with an Orange Alert under the COVID-19 countering guidelines.
The other two resorts; Sandies Bathala and Kuramathi Island Resort, each reported two cases.
HPA also confirms all positive cases so far have been found present from expatriates and tourists while no locals have been found positive for the virus.
