The Criminal Court has sentenced Hassan Mamdhooh to 397 years in prison after finding him guilty of the 94 charges against him.

Mamdhooh, or locally known as Manday, was arrested and charged after he stole money from several people under the guise of selling apartment units from the K-Park residences being developed in Hulhumale'.

Manday is one of the shareholders of the company created to develop the housing building.

Manday was convicted of 50 counts of tax evasion, 50 counts of fraud, 3 counts of issuing invalid documents, and 94 counts of money laundering.

He was sentenced to a total of 397 years in prison, with a total of 368 years for each of the 46 tax charges.

Manday was also sentenced to 14 years in prison for 44 counts of fraud and 15 years for money laundering. He was sentenced to six years in prison for issuing invalid documents.

Along with a 397-year prison sentence, Mande was also fined MVR 30 million. He was also ordered to return the money to those who took it. The court also ordered the state to take over the penthouse he bought in Hulhumale'.

The 397-year jail sentence issued to Manday is the longest prison sentence given in the Maldives, and the presiding judge said the punishment should be a lesson to others.
