The Maldives Food and Drug Authority MFDA has issued a warning about three separate medicines manufactured in Thailand, saying that dangerous chemicals have been found in them.
The MFDA said in a statement that analysis by Thailand’s drug regulatory authority (Food and Drug Administration) found that 3 drugs contained more than the required level of a dangerous chemical, NDMA.

It also said that the South East Asia Region Network informed the MFDA of the presence of the dangerous chemical in the drugs, and the investigation revealed that the brand of drugs had not been imported into the Maldives under any of the rules for importing drugs.
However, the MFDA said that since a lot of Maldivians travel to Thailand for medical purposes and import medicine for personal use, it issued a warning for locals to remain cautious of such medicine.
