Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow aims to advance its partnerships with India and China to a “qualitatively new level,” highlighting technology-driven collaboration across multiple sectors. His remarks came ahead of his December 4–5 visit to India for the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at an investment forum in Moscow, Putin said that joint initiatives in energy, industry, space, agriculture, and other areas are designed to strengthen strategic cooperation with New Delhi and Beijing. He noted that Russia maintains a strong economic dialogue with Chinese President Xi Jinping and intends to hold similar detailed discussions with PM Modi during the summit, including ways to increase Indian exports to the Russian market.

During his visit, Putin and Modi will hold bilateral talks and review ongoing defence, economic, and technological partnerships.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated that discussions may include additional S-400 missile systems and the potential acquisition of Russia’s Su-57 fifth-generation stealth fighter. He also highlighted long-standing defence cooperation, including the BrahMos missile program, describing it as an example of deep technological collaboration.

Peskov added that nuclear energy cooperation could also feature in the talks, including possible proposals for small, flexible reactors. He emphasized Russia’s role in India’s civilian nuclear sector—particularly the Kudankulam project—and expressed Moscow’s interest in expanding cooperation in this field. (Source: NDTV)
