The High Commission of India in the Maldives has announced that the next edition of its ‘Open House’ for Indian nationals will take place on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 1500 hrs at the High Commission premises, Hithigas Magu, Golahi-4, Phase-1, Hulhumalé.

The Open House initiative serves as an interactive platform for members of the Indian community to raise grievances, share suggestions, and seek assistance on issues related to labour and welfare, passport services, and other consular matters. All attendees are requested to reach the venue by 1430 hrs for registration. For queries, Indian nationals may contact the Welfare Officer at mobile number 7361452.

According to the High Commission, the Indian community in the Maldives currently numbers around 30,000 people, making it one of the largest expatriate groups in the country. Indian nationals contribute significantly to several key sectors of the Maldivian economy, including healthcare, education, tourism, construction, and technical services.

A large number of Indian teachers and medical professionals serve across Maldivian schools and hospitals, while others work in resorts, hospitality, engineering, and infrastructure projects. Indian entrepreneurs and professionals are also active in business, accounting, and management roles across the islands.

The High Commission of India regularly organizes Open House sessions and outreach programs in Malé, Hulhumalé, and other islands to maintain close engagement with the community. These sessions have proven effective in resolving issues related to employment contracts, documentation delays, and welfare support for Indian workers.

Previous Open House events and consular camps have also provided updates on new passport and visa services, while fostering open communication between the mission and the Indian diaspora.

Through this initiative, the High Commission reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the welfare, safety, and well-being of Indian nationals residing in the Maldives, and to further strengthening the deep-rooted people-to-people ties between the two nations.
