President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured the people of Sh. Narudhoo by stating that the Government will implement the most effective and swift solutions to address the island's two major concerns, the sewerage system and harbour.

He made these remarks while addressing the community of Narudhoo during his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands of North Miladhunmadulu Atoll.

Highlighting that the island’s most pressing challenges are water, sewerage, and the harbour, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to addressing these issues promptly. He emphasised that establishing a reliable water and sewerage system remains the top priority. The President further announced that Fenaka Corporation will restart the halted sewerage project, revealing that preparations were already underway, and assured that work will commence at an accelerated pace beginning in November.

Addressing concerns regarding the harbour, the President stated that permission has been granted to the relevant Ministry to expand it to the maximum possible extent. He affirmed that the Government would do all that is necessary to ensure a safe harbour for the islands’ residents.

Underscoring the Government’s focus on housing, the President confirmed that additional land plots will be allocated as proposed by the island council.

During his visit, several development projects were initiated, including both physically commenced works and newly signed agreements. President Dr Muizzu highlighted ongoing and upcoming initiatives in education, health, and sports. The construction of a new school building, comprising four classrooms and a multipurpose hall, will commence this year. Additionally, the football field will be upgraded to a standard quality within the year, while the renovation of the futsal court and the development of a handball court are scheduled under the 2026 budget.

The President further stated that the Government aims to extend the operating hours of the Narudhoo Health Centre to 16 hours by next year, ensuring improved healthcare access for residents.
