Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a 26-year-old alleged overground worker (OGW) accused of providing logistical assistance to the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Yousuf Katari from south Kashmir’s Kulgam, was taken into custody following a targeted operation by Srinagar Police. Officials said Katari’s role was uncovered during a “meticulous investigation and follow-up.”
“He provided logistical support to the terrorists killed in Operation Mahadev, who were also involved in the Pahalgam attack. The evidence so far indicates it was a conscious act of support,” a senior police officer confirmed.
This marks the third arrest linked to the case. Earlier, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested two individuals for allegedly providing food and shelter to the attackers. While the NIA has officially taken over the probe, the latest arrest was carried out solely by the J&K Police.
On April 22, 25 tourists and a local pony rider were killed in a targeted terror attack at the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam. The incident escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, prompting Indian strikes on Lashkar and Jaish headquarters across the border.
The terrorists behind the attack—identified as Suleiman Shah (the mastermind), Jibran, and Hamza Afghani, all Pakistani nationals—were later killed by security forces in an operation at Dachigam forests near Srinagar on July 29. (Soure: IE)
