Tianjin, China – Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a packed schedule of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, reaffirming India’s role as a constructive partner in advancing regional security, economic growth, and cultural cooperation.

Following the main proceedings, PM Modi travelled with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a bilateral meeting, which he described as “always insightful.” He also interacted with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where both leaders reviewed recent positive momentum in relations since their last meeting in Kazan. They emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility along the border while reaffirming cooperation based on mutual respect, mutual interest, and mutual sensitivity.

The Prime Minister met Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, highlighting the robust partnership between India and Kyrgyzstan, and engaged with Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, stressing that India’s developmental cooperation continues to deliver tangible benefits for the people of both nations.

  • Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia, with whom he reaffirmed the warmth and mutual cooperation driving bilateral relations.
  • President Serdar Berdimuhamedow of Turkmenistan, exchanging perspectives on regional issues and enhancing collaboration.
  • President Thongloun Sisoulith of Lao PDR, emphasizing the growing friendship, particularly in trade and cultural ties.
  • Senior General Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar, where both sides identified scope to boost cooperation in trade, connectivity, energy, rare earth mining, and security, underlining Myanmar’s role in India’s Act East and Neighbourhood First policies.
  • Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam, reaffirming India’s intent to deepen collaboration in defence, trade, and green energy.
  • President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, where discussions focused on cooperation in energy, security, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.
  • President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, with whom PM Modi welcomed growing trade and cultural linkages.
  • President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, where both leaders expressed optimism about future opportunities in bilateral relations.
  • Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly of Egypt, recalling Modi’s visit to Egypt and reaffirming that India-Egypt ties are reaching new heights.

In his official remarks at the SCO Summit, PM Modi emphasized India’s vision for collaborative growth, stability, and security among member states, while underlining the role of dialogue, developmental partnerships, and mutual understanding in addressing global and regional challenges.
