The former captain of the Maldivian national football team, Mohamed Ibrahim (Kappi), has suffered a stroke and is being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
He suffered a stroke yesterday afternoon while he was at his office.
A well-placed source said that there were three blockages in the former captain's brain and that these blockages needed to be treated for him to recover.
Kappi came through the ranks at Victory FC and later on went on to play at their rival New Radient.
He played for Victory from 1992 to 2002 and won the National Championship 5 times with the club. He also led them to 2 FA cups and 2 Cup winners Cups while at Victory.
With the National Team, Kappi played a vital role at the 1999 SAFF Championship in India when the Maldives secured third place.
