Police have apprehended a man alleged to be involved in the recent assaults and fights in the country at the Airport after he attempted to flee the country.
Police said that the 31-year-old suspect had flown to Malaysia after a court order was issued for his arrest.
They also said that the country's officials stopped the suspect from entering Malaysia and that he was brought back to the Maldives.
Police added that they arrested the suspect once his plane landed in the Maldives.
They accuse the suspect of being involved in the recent string of assaults in the country as well as being involved in dangerous crimes.
The suspect has been identified as Hussain Areesh of Fuvammulah city.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
