Maldives Monetary Authority MMA says the newly reprinted MVR 100 entered circulation yesterday.

The MVR 100 notes were reprinted due to low stock. MMA said that reprinted notes display the MVR currency sign on both sides.

On the new MVR 100, the currency sign was printed on the left-hand corner of the front side of the note and the right-hand corner of the back side of the note.

The note was signed by the former Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority Ali Hashim.

MMA said that these notes were printed on the 7th of July 2024 and that this date was also printed on the notes.

It further said that though the new MVR notes enter circulation, the old MVR 100 notes would also remain in circulation.

This is usually done by the MMA due to the shortage of notes in circulation. The last time the stock issued at least MVR 100 notes was in September
