Authorities in Thailand have apprehended a Maldivian man who attempted to smuggle 3 kgs of narcotics into the country.
Thai media reported that the drug Mephedrone was smuggled into Thailand from the United Kingdom and that they were disguised as protein supplements.
Media reports said the Maldivian man was arrested when he went to the post office in Bangkok to collect the package from the UK.
This new outlet has not confirmed the identity of the local man arrested in Thailand.
Authorities from the narcotics control board in Bangkok said a similar bust was made back in June when a Russian man was arrested when he tried to smuggle in drugs hidden inside coffee capsules.
Officials stated that mephedrone is dangerous because it is mixed with other substances and it becomes toxic when mixed with bath salt.
