A tourist who went swimming in a resort in Vaavu Atoll has drowned.
Police identified the victim as a 63-year-old woman from Belarus.
They said they received the report of the incident around 11:29. Police did not give the name of the resort at which the incident happened but said that the victim was rushed to the Hospital in Felidhoo.
However, Police said the victim was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Police are further investigating the incident.
The tragedy comes days after a Chinese man died in a snorkeling accident off Gangehi resort in Alifu Alifu Atoll.
