Police have confirmed that three individuals from Somalia have been found stranded on an uninhabited island in the Maldives along with the dinghy they were traveling in.

Police said the three were stranded on the island of Vavathi in Vaavu Atoll.

However, the Police did not reveal any more information about the three individuals including their ages.

Their Dinghy was also stranded with them

Police did say they were further investigating the incident.

Somalia, officially the Federal Republic of Somalia is the easternmost country in continental Africa. The country is on the Horn of Africa and is bordered by Ethiopia to the west, Djibouti to the northwest, the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Indian Ocean to the east, and Kenya to the southwest.

Somalis have been known to enter Maldivian waters in small sea vessels like Dinghys to migrate from their country or for criminal purposes.
