A man has sustained injuries after a shark attacked him while out fishing.
Sources have said that the man was initially taken to Hoarafushi Hospital after the shark attack opened a 6 CM gash on his arm. However, he was transferred to Kulhudhufushi Regional Hospital due to profuse bleeding.
Media official from Kulhudhufushi Regional Hospital Mohamed Moosa confirmed this and said that the victim was brought to the hospital between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Mohamed said that the victim was a 28-year-old local man and that he was currently being treated in the hospital's observation room.
He also said that a surgeon at the hospital was treating the victim and that the doctor had not decided on a course of action.
Shark attacks are growing frequent in the Maldives.
