Maldives National Defence Force MNDF says it has been alerted to a report of foreign troops storming a Maldivian fishing vessel inside the country's waters.
MDNF said that it has now deployed coastguard vessels to the location of the vessels.
They did not share the location of the vessel nor the nationality of the foreign troops that allegedly stormed the local vessel.
Earlier, the Bodu Kanneyli Fishermen's Union said in a post that an Indian navy vessel had stopped a fishing vessel from Alifu Dhaalu Mahibadhoo called Asuramaa 3 and that foreign troops had stormed the vessel.
The union condemned this act and called on Maldivian authorities to take necessary actions.
If confirmed, this would put another wedge between the two allies as they struggle calm tensions between the two countries.
