MDP and the Democrats have agreed to work together on several issues as well as to hold the current administration accountable for its actions.
In a joint press, the parties said that the issues that they are looking to work together include limiting the size of the parliament stating that while the current parliament has 87 seats, the next would have 93.
They said that the parties believe there is a need to review the projected and unlimited growth in the number of MPs and parliamentary constituencies.
They also said that they are willing to commit to passing legislation on regulating the governance of State-owned Enterprises. The Parties also said that they would commit to legislation limiting the number of political appointees by the government.
The Democrats and MDP said that to this end, MPs of the two parties who together hold 55 seats in the 87-member house have requested an extraordinary sitting of the parliament to begin work on the legislation and to bring the necessary constitutional amendments.
The parties said that they believe the Parliament has a central role in correcting the direction of the government on many issues and on any steps that are detrimental to the wellbeing and economic prosperity of the people and the country.
