The rules have been changed to allow more than one person to form a political party.
The Election Commission held a press conference today to discuss the matter.
Vice President of the Commission Ismail Habib said the change would allow more than one person to apply for permission to form a political party. Habib said the decision was taken after repeatedly submitting the matter to the commission.
In addition, Habib said that a newly formed political party will be allowed to view the political party register on the portal.
Previously, only one person was allowed to form a political party. With the 8th amendment to the Political Parties Rules, that will change.
