The Finance Ministry has denied that the government paid Rs 101.7 million in compensation during the first two weeks of the government of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

An online newspaper reported that MVR 101.7 million was paid as compensation from November 24 to November 30, according to the Finance Ministry.

The ministry denied the allegations and said it had not paid any new compensation to any such persons and would issue a press release detailing the matter soon.

The ministry said in an online newspaper that a total of MVR 438.1 million had been paid as compensation as of November 16 this year.

No compensation was paid from November 17 to November 23, the report said.

The government has paid MVR 539.8 million in compensation so far this year.
