Former President Mohamed Nasheed says India must build a relationship with not just one political party but with all the political parties in the Maldives.

In a post on X, Nasheed said that the current political climate in Maldives provides an excellent opportunity for India to build relationships across the political spectrum.

He said that this should not be limited to just one political party but to all the political parties in the Maldives.

Nasheed insisted that the friendship between India and the Maldives has a bright future and that India has not lost Maldivian hearts and minds.

In an earlier post, Nasheed had said that India was the country's closest ally and that India is the country that gives the Maldives the most assistance.

The former President also said that it would be detrimental to the Maldives to go against India.

The new government has already asked India to remove its military personnel deployed in the Maldives.
