President of Maldives National Party MNP Mohamed Nazim says the party will remain steadfast with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and his new government.

This comes amid heightened political tension with regards to the government of President Muizzu who represented the PPM/PNC coalition in the Presidential election with the backing of PPM leader and former President Abdullah Yameen. But since Yameen decided to leave PPM and form his own party, supporters of the former President have turned on President Muizzu.

In a post on X, MNP President Nazim assured the people of the Maldives that all the members of the MNP would remain with President Muizzu who was elected with the support of the majority of the country.

Nazim urged the country to continue giving their support to President Muizzu in his endeavor to bring about positive developmental changes to the country.

The MNP President represented the party in the Presidential election held last September and received only 1,900 votes in the first round of the election. For the second round, MNP joined PPM/PNC in a coalition and went on to win the second round.

Nazim had said before that MNP would remain with President Muizzu for the next five years.
