The Ministry said that it had successful talks with the Foreign Ministries of the countries within the Schengen region and the result was that Switzerland officially joined VFS Male' in August of this year.

It said that since then Maldivians have been able to apply for a Schengen visa for Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Luxembourg, and Slovenia.

Today, it said that additional European countries have been added to this list including France, Spain, and Portugal. The Ministry said that Maldivians can now apply for a Schengen visa to these countries via VFS Male' starting today.
