The Judicial Service Commission has suspended the Chief Magistrate of Gaafu Alifu Kondey Mohamed Ibrahim for judicial misconduct.

He was suspended last year for a month after he signed court-issued warrants in a case for which he had recused himself earlier for conflict of interest.

Today, the JSC said that Chief Magistrate Mohamed Ibrahim was suspended this time for judicial misconduct as he talked about court cases and cases submitted to the court outside of the court and because this was proven by the investigation conducted by the Commission.

JSC said that this goes against the Judges Act.

The Commission said that Chief Magistrate Mohamed has been suspended for two weeks without pay starting today.

It added that the decision to suspend the Chief Magistrate was made at the 70th Commission meeting held on the 1st of this month.
