A dead body has been found floating in the sea off Dhoonidhoo and police have begun an investigation in the area.
Police said that the body was found in the waters between Funadhoo and Dhoonidhoo. Sources have said that the body of the deceased was without any clothes and that the deceased appeared to be a man.
Police said that they received a report of the discovery around 09:10 a.m. today and that they are further investigating the matter.
They also said that they have not been able to identify the body and have not been able to determine whether the victim is a local or a foreigner.
The video being circulated on social media shows that the dead body was floating face down.
Last night there were reports of an individual jumping in to the sea from Rasfannu beach in Male' but Police have not yet confirmed these reports.
