President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says instead of focusing on getting a lofty post within MDP, he is working to make the party a formidable opposition party.

Speaking at the first news conference held at his office after the Presidential election, President Solih said that in order to further strengthen the country's democracy, there should be a strong opposition party and that he is working towards this goal.

President Solih said that he said before that he intended to retire after a second term and that right now he will prioritize making MDP a strong and formidable party.

He added that he would decide on his political future after that.

MDP has the potential to become that. It is not important which party post I will get. It is important to make MDP a strong organization, to hold the government accountable and to keep serving the people.
