Electoral officials across the country have started closing voting queues as polling for the Presidential Run-Off being held today draws to a close.
This was confirmed by the Elections Commission who said that officials would allow voters who joined the queue before it closed to cast their votes.
The Elections Commission had scheduled to hold the vote from 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. after it added one hour of voting by drawing experience from the first round of voting held earlier this month.
The Commission said that by 16:00 p.m. this evening 221,496 people had voted in the election. It said that this was 78.32 percent of the eligible voters for the run-off.
The Commission also said that the voters who cast their ballots include 111,273 women and 110,223 men.
It said that more than 61,000 voters were yet to cast their ballots at 04:00 pm this evening.
The Commission has also said that the time for voting would not be extended beyond 05:00 p.m.
Ballot counting would begin 30 minutes after voting closes. The preliminary result of the election Run-Off is expected later tonight.
