The Parliament has canceled its session for today due to the lack of a quorum.
The Parliament scheduled its third session of the third term for the year for today but only 13 MPs were present for the session.
With 87 MPs elected to the parliament for this term, at least 22 MPs must be present for a session to continue.
The third term of the year for the parliament has so far been littered with disrupted sessions.
Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed cut short its first session of the third term last Monday citing the lack of cooperation from the MPs.
The session was cut short after the floor of the parliament erupted into chaos after Speaker Nasheed decided that the compilation of the Parliamentary standing committees would be postponed till the administrative procedures were in place to allow MPs from 'The Democrats' to be appointed to the Committees.
Nasheed said that only 3 MPs have sent letters of notification to the Parliament secretariate after joining the Democrats and that he would allow other MPs to send their letters to the Secretariate.
This caused MDP MPs to protest in outrage and before the Speaker halted the session temporarily he called out the names of three MPs asking them to leave the chamber.
