MP for Naifaru Constituency Ahmed Shiyam says fielding a candidate from PPMs' sister party PNC for the September elections is the opposition's plan C.

Speaking about the opposition's strategy for the Elections, Shiyam said last night that the opposition would give the highest priority to its plan A and that plan A would see leader and former President Abdullah Yameen win his candidacy case at the Supreme Court.

Shiyam explained that if Yameen cannot compete, the PPM would field a candidate for the elections and that this was plan B.

He said that if PPM is unable to field a candidate then the opposition would opt for plan C which would be to field a candidate from PNC. Last Thursday PNC's senate decided to field Male' City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu as its Presidential Candidate for the elections after he joined the party from PPM on the same day.

Muizzu competed in a hastily arranged vote against the MP for Maduvaree Constituency Adam Shareef Umar and won by just two votes.

Yesterday, during the Supreme Court hearing on Yameen's candidacy, the former President appealed to the Court to issue an order that would allow PPM to field a candidate in case his candidacy case goes against him.

But lawyers from the Elections Commission assured the Court that PPM can even field a candidate for the election right now.
