Education Ministry says it would send all the textbooks required for the new academic year to all the schools across the country by the end of this month.

Commenting about its preparations for the new academic year, the Ministry said that it was now making the necessary arrangements before sending the textbooks.

It said that Minister Dr. Aishath Ali had yesterday overseen the operations to send the books to all the schools.

The Ministry had said before that its main priority ahead of the new academic year is to appoint local Principals to all the schools in the country.

The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry Ahmed Ali said that back in 2019, 58 schools did not have permanent Principals and out of these 26 schools had foreigners as Principals.

The Ministry said that it was undertaking several programs to train Principals and that many have joined the education sector after completing this training abroad.

The Ministry noted that the last academic year was a success with a record number of students listed in the O'level and A'level top ten.

The new academic year is set to begin on the 6th of next month.
