Flynas, the leading low-cost airline in the Middle East, has successfully launched direct flights to the Maldives, marking a significant milestone for the country's tourism industry.

Maldives Airports Company MACL said that the inaugural flight, carrying 96 passengers, landed at Velana International Airport earlier this morning, receiving a warm welcome with a special water salute.

Tourism Minister Dr. Abdullah Mausoom, along with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Maldives Matrek Abdullah Al-Ajalin Aldosari, Vice President of Sales at Flynas Aleidi Abdulelah Sulaiman, and CEO & Managing Director of MACL Mahjoob Shujau were present at the event.

Highlighting the importance of the Saudi market, Tourism Minister Dr. Abdullah Mausoom expressed his optimism about the future of the Maldives' tourism industry. He mentioned ongoing discussions with other airlines to operate flights to different airports in the Maldives, not limited to Velana International Airport.

MACL said that Flynas will operate three weekly flights from Riyadh International Airport to the Maldives, offering convenient travel options for passengers. The flights will be available every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, allowing travelers to explore the breathtaking beauty of the Maldives.

In addition to Flynas, Virgin Atlantic from the United States is also planning to initiate services to Velana International Airport this year, increasing the flying options for tourists.
