President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says the government has begun work to increase the Senior Citizen Allowance being given to the elderly of 65 years and above.

Addressing the residential community of Addu City, President Solih said that work to increase the allowance being given to those with disabilities has now been completed and that it would be announced soon.

President then said that the government has decided to increase the allowance being given to senior citizens and that work on the matter has now begun.

Addressing the topic of pay harmonization, the President highlighted its significance in bringing about favorable transformations in salary structures across all sectors.

He acknowledged that the completion of these efforts had been delayed due to the economic challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, noting that they would have been achieved by now under normal circumstances.
