A man has died in a southern resort after being struck by a branch of a tree that was being cut down.
The incident occurred at Canary Reef resort in Addu City earlier today.
The victim of the accident has been identified as a 61-year-old local man.
Speaking to the Press about the incident, Police said that they received the report of the incident around 09:03 am today and that the victim had been struck on the head by a stray branch while the tree was being cut down.
Police said that victim was rushed to Addu Equatorial Hospital shortly after and cited the hospital to say that the man succumbed to his injuries while under treatment at the hospital.
Police further said that it was investigating the matter.
