Waste Management Corporation WAMCO has announced the price of bin liners it would be selling that would be exempt from the new plastic bag fee.
WAMCO said via Twitter that it plans to sell three sizes of bin liners and that they would be sold in two colors, green and black.
The Corporation said that it would sell 100 large-sized bin liners for MVR 35 and that it would sell 100 XXL-sized bin liners for MVR 165.
It also said that it plans to sell 100 XXXL bin liners also for MVR 165.
WAMCO said that the bin liners will be available for sale at its customer front offices from 27th April. It said that bin liners would be available from the customer front offices of its waste transfer stations in Male', Hulhumale', and Villimale.
Since last Tuesday every business activity operating in the Maldives has been charging a Plastic Bag Fee of MVR 2 for each plastic bag sold or provided free of charge to customers at the point of sale.
While there are exemptions to this fee, bin liners sold by Waste Management Corporation are exempted from the plastic bag fee.
