Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali says the new building for Arabiyya School can be used in 2024.

The Ministry has said before that the construction of the building would be completed this year.

But speaking at the Parliament today, Minister Dr. Aishath said that if all goes according to schedule the new building would be completed for the new academic year in 2024.

She said that the concept work on the new building has now been completed and that architects are now working on the detailed drawings for the project. She added that work on the old Jamaludeen school would begin sometime today.

The government said before that MVR 168 million had been earmarked in the State Budget for 2023 for developing the new building for Arabiyya School and the extension building for Jamaluddin School.

The two buildings will be located in the old Jamaluddin School building.

The government is looking to build the new Arabiyya building with 34 classrooms, toilets and 2 lifts while the Jamaludeen annex would have 40 classrooms, 4 lifts as well as a multi purpose hall.
