Leader of Maldives Reform Movement MRM Maumoon Abdul Gayoom says there are no obstacles to forming a coalition with the opposition PPM and that if such a situation arrives MRM would consider such a move.
The former President said this while speaking to reporters after meeting with the leader of Jumhooree Party JP today at his office.
Maumoon said that the MRM's council would have discussions before it announces the party's stance ahead of the September elections.
He said that anything is possible and that any outcome would be decided after discussions.
While Maumoon hinted at a coalition with his former party, he left PPM back in 2016 after a row with the current party leader Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
MRM, a current partner of the coalition government now in power, remains undecided over its alliance during the elections.
Yesterday, Maumoon met with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to hold talks and MRM later said that it would continue having talks with MDP before making a decision to stick with the coalition or move away.
