Villimale Councillor Nahula Ali has made several allegations against the Male' City Council in which she is an elected member.
In a statement, Councillor Nahula said that the City Council is carrying out certain actions with the bidding process and by making decisions within its own committee and that these actions would be seen more frequently in the future.
Nahula said that in the meeting with the citizens of Villimale, the Mayor of Male City has spoken in a way that distorts the truth and these were comments regarding the land plot used for one of the oldest running restaurants in Villimale', Xie Xie.
She said that even though the Mayor said that the City Council had extended the leasing period for the land plot as per the process, the leasing period was extended without the bidding process.
Nahula said that Villimale had a land use plan and that if a certain land is allocated for a certain purpose, this should be decided by the whole council and that case of Xie Xie was not put through the normal process.
The Councillor also voiced concerns about how she was treated at the meeting with the Villimale' Citizens held last Thursday.
Nahula said that citizens had asked the Villimale' Councillor to answer their questions repeatedly but that she was never given the chance to respond to their queries.
She said these meetings were held to offer information to the public and that there should not be any instances where the Councillors are not allowed to respond to questions.
Nahula alleged that the Council officials had cut off the audio feed to the mic while she was speaking and that the Major had spoken in a way that hid the truth.
