CEO of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company MTCC Adam Azim says the paving work on Ameenee Magu is underway and that the company aims to complete the work within three days.
Road Development Corporation RDC was contracted to reconstruct one of the most used roads in Male' last year and it started work last September. But the work has been delayed with part of the road closed down due to the construction.
During the weekend, State Minister at the Planning Ministry Akram Kamaaludeen confirmed that the paving work of the road has now been contracted to MTCC.
He said that this work was given to MTCC because RDC did not have land to keep the paving machine and once the land has been arranged RDC would take over the paving work.
Speaking to 'The Press' about the paving work, MTCC Azim said that RDC has instructed MTCC to pave the road up until the Stelco headquarters.
Azim said that MTCC employees would work around the clock and that the company is aiming to complete the paving work by Wednesday.
The reconstruction of Ameenee magu was awarded to RDC for MVR 84 million while the Male' City Council has said that it would finish the project for MVR 39 million.
