Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has confirmed that the Police have launched a major investigation into the recent incidences of fire in Male' and the Atolls.
This comes after a fire engulfed the auction store and an accommodation block adjacent to it earlier today.
The Commissioner said via Twitter that Police would be investigating the incidents both in Male' and the Atolls. He appealed for the public to support the Police investigation.
Along with the fire in Male' today, several fire incidents have been reported in the country during the last few months.
This includes a tragic fire incident last November in which 10 people lost their lives in Male'.
Major fires have been reported in Addu City as well as Raa Atoll Alifushi recently. Also, a fire broke out in an accommodation block in Gulheefalhu in which one was reported missing.
Authorities later found human bones from the bone site.
