A female Correction Officer has died while completing her training in Kaafu Maafushi.
The Officer is believed to have died after drowning.
Maldives Correctional Services confirmed the death of one of its female Officers. It said that it was further investigating the matter and would release more information about the matter upon further inquiry.
It did not release more information about the incident.
Police have said that they received information about a female corrections officer drowning around 11:15 am this morning and that the victim was taken to Maafushi Health Center.
Police further said that the drowning victim was then transferred to Male' for more treatment and that she died while under treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Male'.
They said that they were further investigating the incident.
Police trainees as well as soldiers under training have died before while undergoing their training.
