Judicial Service Commission JSC says it has suspended the Chief Magistrate of Baa Goidhoo Magistrate Court Ahmed Nishaar after investigating allegations of misconduct.
JSC said that although Chief Magistrate Nishaaru was appointed to the Goidhoo court but has been physically attending the Fulhadhoo Magistrate Court.
It said that this goes against the guidelines set by the JSC on judges physically attending the courts assigned to them and that the Chief Magistrate has confessed to the misconduct.
JSC further said that with his confession, the misconduct charge has now been proven and he has been suspended as a result.
The Commission said that the Chief Magistrate was suspended for 14 days and that he won't be eligible for pay during this time.
It added that the decision was taken at its 73rd meeting.
