Judicial Services Commission has appointed Judge Ibrahim Mahir as the Head Judge of the Family Court.

He has been fulfilling the post temporarily after the former head of the Family Court Judge Husaifa Mohamed was appointed to the High Court last June.

But he was permanently appointed to the post after all the suitable candidates including him were interviewed. The JSC made the decision to make his appointment permanent on the 5th of this month.

He will receive the letter of appointment next week.

Judge Mahir has been working in the Family Court for the past 12 years. He was initially appointed as a judge to the Civil Court back in November of 2005.

He changed to the family court nearly five years later in May of 2010.
