President of Maldives National Party MNP Mohamed Nazim says his party cannot accept a policy in which only residents of Male' are given free land plots and under the party's government it would find a permanent solution to the problem.
Speaking at the party's congress held last night at Thaajudheen school, Nazim said that his party needs to win the Presidential Election in order to bring about positive changes to the country as a political party and that one of the key issues facing the country is the inability of governments to provide productive means to citizens.
Nazim said even though many are using the bulk of their income on rents, they are still moving to Male' and that this results in many being driven to depression with the financial burdens that accompany such a living.
He further said that even though prolonged housing issues led to other social issues, governments worked for their own political gains.
Nazim also said that his party does not believe that Political parties should work for the benefit of the public once in power and in this regard MNP is working on a plan that would resolve the housing issue. He noted that it was very unfair to award free land plots to residents of Male'.
Nazim added that all the governments that had come to power have all spent excessively and criticized the current and former governments for their exuberant spending.
Nazim assured that when MNP wins next year's Presidential election it would work for the benefit of the public.
