Shiaau Ahmed Saeed, who was brutally murdered earlier this month, has been buried last night in her homeland Fuvahmulah City.
Police had sent the murder victim's body for an autopsy to India last Thursday and had brought the body back to the Maldives last night.
Funeral prayers for the victim were held after Isha prayers last night and it has been reported that the prayers were held at Masjid Inaaraa in Fuvahmulah.
The 22-year-old was murdered and mutilated at an apartment building in Male.
Local skater, 22-year-old Ali Shaahil was arrested at the scene of the crime and authorities believe he is the only suspect involved in the horrific crime.
Police had said that Shaahil had no priors and that there had been no official reports of any domestic violence allegations against the suspect.
But Police had also said that Shaahil was intoxicated when they arrested him and media reports had said that the suspect had been drenched in what appeared to be the victim's blood.
