President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has participated in the commemorative flag hoisting ceremony to mark the Maldives’ 57th Anniversary of Independence.
The ceremony was held at Republic Square at 05:50 am this morning.
The President was accompanied by First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Vice President Faisal Naseem, and other senior officials of the government at the ceremony.
Upon arrival at Republic Square, President Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed were greeted by the Minister of Defense, Mariya Ahmed Didi, and the Minister of Home Affairs, Imran Abdulla.
A special prayer was recited at the ceremony by Sheikh Ahmed Maumoon.
The Maldives' Independence Day is celebrated on the 26th of July each year.
