Maldives Qualification Authority MQA says it would take action against higher education providers in the country if they are found to act outside of the permits issued to them.

MQA said that members of the public have been filing complaints at the authority saying that some of the higher education centers are acting outside of the permits and also acting against accreditation regulations.

MQA said that some centers are conducting unauthorized e-learning delivery modality programs and this goes against the accreditation regulations.

The Authority promised that it would investigate such incidents and that it would take action according to the higher education laws and regulations as well as the accreditation regulation in the country.

It added that the authority was making this public to prevent any loss to students and members of the public who might be caught in such illegally conducted courses.

While the number of higher education centers in the country has increased over the years, the competitiveness among the centers has also gone higher in recent years.
