Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed says only opposition leader and former President Abdullah Yameen is working against the nation's independence and sovereignty and nobody else is acting in such a manner.

Speaking at an election rally, Nasheed said that the Maldives had been able to maintain its independence because it has been fostering relationships between other nations, and it is especially vital to have good relationships with neighboring countries.

Nasheed further said that the "India Out" campaign spearheaded by ex-President Yameen is a dangerous campaign and that it could be detrimental to the country.

The Former President also accused Yameen of aspiring to come into power again.

Nasheed said that history has seen leaders like Yameen who have wreaked havoc in the country and history also shows how the public had dealt with such leaders.

Aiming his words to opposition members, Nasheed said PPM should not support Yameen and that no citizen or political party should be part of anything that damages the country.

Nasheed's comments came as the opposition looks to spread the anti-India campaign nationwide with several trips to the islands.
