Authorities in the Maldives have moved the eggs laid by a turtle near the Sinamale' bridge area last night to Four Seasons Resort.

The turtle was seen laying its eggs on the patch of sand near the bridge on Male' side. This comes after the first sighting of a wild sea turtle in Male' in years was reported last month.

Local authorities had moved that turtle to the sea but had allowed the turtle that landed last night to stay on the sand patch and eventually lay its eggs on the patch.

Reports have confirmed that authorities had since moved the turtle nest to Four Seasons Kuda Huraa Resort and an official from the Environment Protection Agency EPA had said to the media that they had no choice but to do so.

EPA Director General Ibrahim Naeem had said that the area why the turtle had laid its egg is too near to the sea and that chances of the nest hatching naturally were low.

He added that the nest was moved to Four Seasons resort to give it a high chance to hatch.
