Maldives National Defense Force MNDF say a fuel bowser traveling on the SinaMale bridge had caught fire today but was extinguished before firefighters reached the scene.
MNDF said that the report of the fire came in earlier this morning. But the driver of the bowser had extinguished the fire before MNDF Fire and Rescue had reached the area.
Though it is now uncommon for members of the public to extinguish fires before MNDF reaches the scene, today's incident had occurred on the bridge that has high-speed traffic going both sides.
But the fire was extinguished without a traffic accident and MNDF had reported no injuries in the incident.
Nor had MNDF reported how the fire had started on the bowser in the first place.
