Health Protection Agency HPA has reported an additional 95 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday in the Maldives.
The Agency said that out of these new cases, 49 were from the inhabited islands while 28 were confirmed from the Greater Male' Area where the positivity rate is at 2 percent.
HPA had said that 4,540 samples of COVID-19 were tested on Saturday and that 1,426 of those samples came from the Greater Male' Area.
HPA added that it had confirmed another 16 cases at operational resorts.
The new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country since March 2020 to 93,957. HPA said that right now there are 1,972 active cases of the pandemic in the country and that 14 remained hospitalized for further treatment.
HPA had also confirmed that 91,713 people have recovered from the COVID-19 illness in the Maldives.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 259 people in the Maldives and most of those who have succumbed to the illness include elderly locals with underlying health conditions.
HPA had also said that the total number of cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
